Every author had the idea it, said it, and heard it: promotion may be the roll-up-your-sleeves, and dig-in section of writing. It is the far more difficult and time-consuming facet of writing that all author needs to become involved with... if he wants to sell his books.

To actually sell a magazine, you'll want a quality product. This is the bare-bottom, first rung of book promotion... the foundation.

The building blocks - Produce a Quality Product

The very first step in book promotion is always to create a quality product. Hopefully, you noticed I said create a quality product, not only a good story. What this means is that most aspects of your book need to be first-rate.

    A. The Story

To begin in the start, the very first step to be handled is usually to be sure your story has all the essential elements. According to Yale-New Haven Teachers Institute, you can find five major aspects of an account: characters, setting, plot, perspective, and theme.

All the components of an account should complement each other, should move the other person forward, draw people in, and end with a satisfying conclusion. They should come together to create a story that'll be remembered.

Suppose your story is action packed and plot driven, however it lacks believable and sympathetic characters, it will fall short. This goes true if you have a believable and sympathetic character, however the story lacks movement. Again, it will be lacking. Quite obviously in your life balance is necessary, this holds true when writing a story.

    B. Inside a Critique Group

Yes, this is section of developing a quality story. Even experienced authors depend on the unique perspective and additional eyes that each critique member provides. They'll help find: grammatical errors, holes within your story, unclear sentences and paragraphs, overuse of particular words, and weak verbs, among other elements.

They will offer guidance and suggestions.

    C. Editing

Yes, again, this can be a necessary the answer to decide to use be sure that your manuscript is incorporated in the best shape possible before it becomes a book. Search for a seasoned and qualified editor to assist tweak your manuscript. But, before you send it off to be edited, self-edit it first. There are a number of articles out there on the net on self-editing. Make an effort and read several, go over your manuscript.

    D. Cover and style

This step is more relevant to those that choose to self-publish, or utilize a Print-on-Demand (POD). The coverage may be the first impression a reader will usually have of one's book, next may be the interior design. These aspects are only as important as the storyline itself. I'm sure you're familiar with the expression which you only obtain one shot at creating a good first impression. Well, you are able to relate that in your book cover.

Don't skimp or time, effort, or money when coming up with your book's cover and style.

Tip: If you're writing a children's book, usually do not do your own illustrations unless you are a professional illustrator.
